Courses are offered for a 2 hours and 5 minutes daily block of time
Summit Technology Academy offers specialty career-related programs with emphasis on work-based learning and industry mentors. Each course program emphasizes the essential concepts of a college-preparatory curriculum by encouraging students to apply academic content and skills to real-world problems and projects. Teachers work collaboratively to make connections between disciplines.

Centers of Excellence
All courses are designated as a Center of Excellence as designated by the Career Education Consortium. Acceptance into a Center of Excellence program requires a student to have a minimum 2.0 GPA and a 90% or better attendance rate. Students interested should contact their counselor for an application.
Project Lead the Way
Project Lead the Way is a nationally recognized engineering and biomedical curriculum being offered in numerous school districts across the country. The introductory courses are offered at many of the sending schools. For example, Introduction to Engineering & Design, (IED) Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA), and Principles of Engineering (POE), are introductory engineering courses. Students can advance these studies through PLTW capstone courses, such as Digital Electronics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Design and Development offered at Summit Technology Academy. In addition, Principles of Biomedical Sciences and Human Anatomy & Physiology/Human Body Systems are introductory biomedical courses offered at several area high schools. Students can advance their biomedical studies through PLTW capstone courses, such as Medical Interventions and Biomedical Innovations offered at Summit Technology Academy.
College Credit/Certifications
Students can earn up to three units of high school credit per year, and most of the programs offer college credit through University of Central Missouri, University of Missouri Kansas City, Missouri University of Science and Technology Metropolitan Community Colleges. Students can earn industry certifications such as CompTia, Cisco, NOCTI, and CNA.
Involvement and Leadership
Students have the opportunity to join SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit student organization that serves students enrolled in career and technical education training programs at our nation’s public high schools and colleges. SkillsUSA’s mission is to empower its members to become world class workers and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA complements technical skills training with instruction in the employability skills that make a well-rounded worker and citizen.
